HEALTH THROUGH HISTORY, SOCIETY AND MEDIA
In this project we will work with the topic of health. People have had many different ideas about what is healthy, and these ideas have changed through history. For example, a long time ago being fat was seen as something good, and in the 1950s smoking was sometimes shown as healthy in advertisements.
We will also look at how media and advertising talk about health, from the 1950s until today. Some health trends from the past can look strange to us now. Later, we will watch the film Super Size Me, which shows how fast food was once seen as fun and safe.
In the end, you will write a text. You will connect the past and the present, and you will also give your own ideas about how people in the future might think about our health trends in 100 years.
In the assignment Pitch me if you can, you will work with the following:
Historical perspective
We start by looking at an historical perspective about health. What has been seen as healthy? How has it changed?
Media & Advertising
What items has been advertised through media? What different products have they tried to sell?
Film
We will watch and work with the film Super Size Me. The film is about a person trying to survive on only fast food and has to take the larger menu if they ask if he wants to super size.
Final Assignment
You will write a text where you bring out how it has been and focus on how it might be in the future and what people in the future might think of us.
