Loch Ness

Introduction

Loch Ness is a large, deep lake in Scotland. It is famous for the legend of the Loch Ness Monster, also called “Nessie.” Many people believe Nessie is a large, mysterious creature that lives in the lake. Loch Ness is about 37 kilometers long and very deep, with dark water. It is surrounded by beautiful hills and forests, making it a popular place for visitors. Some people come to Loch Ness to see the lake and the scenery, while others hope to catch a glimpse of Nessie!

Loch Ness and the Swedish lake Storsjön have something in common: both have legends about mysterious lake monsters! Just like the Loch Ness Monster, Storsjön has its own creature called Storsjöodjuret. People say that Storsjöodjuret is a large, serpent-like creature that lives in the lake. Both monsters are famous in their countries, and many people claim to have seen them, though there is no proof. Some visitors go to Loch Ness or Storsjön hoping to spot these legendary creatures. The stories of Nessie and Storsjöodjuret are examples of how different places have similar myths.
