WRITING ASSIGNMENT

Imagine this: you open your eyes and realize you’re completely alone. The plane has crashed. The boat is gone. Your phone doesn’t work. There’s no one around for miles — just wind, waves, trees, or empty sky.

No map, No instructions and No second chances.

What would you do? Would you panic, or would you plan? Could you make fire? Find water? Build shelter? Could you survive?

Stories like these have fascinated people for centuries. Sometimes they’re based on real events – amazing stories of people lost at sea, stranded in the jungle, or stuck in the mountains. Other times, they are fictional tales about characters who must use their wits to escape danger and stay alive. These stories are survival stories (Robinsonades) – tales of people pushed to their limits.

But survival is never just about food and fire. These stories also explore something deeper: fear, loneliness, hope, courage, and the will to keep going, even when everything seems lost.

Over the next weeks, you will step into the world of survival — through film, reading, discussion, and maybe even your imagination. You will hear true stories of people who made it through the impossible. Meet fictional characters who must adapt or die. And before you know it… well, let’s just say that by the end of this, you will know exactly what it feels like to be alone with only your instincts.
